I over wear my standard day-to-day clothes and have nothing exciting to wear when I go somewhere. Going out of town is the perfect excuse to get a few items that will make you feel fresh and in theme with your trip. I am a planner when I travel. I like to know beforehand the places I want to see, have a few tours planned, and try to coordinate a few outfits based on what I am doing.
I primarily wore my converse sneakers because I knew I was going to be walking the majority of my travels and these sneakers are super comfortable. I brought two other pairs of shoes with me: one was a high knee boot for my “witchy” theme and heels for when I went out to a nice restaurant (Galatoire’s – which has a dress code).
The other items I’m wearing not mentioned (jeans, leggings, jacket) are bought via thrift stores and Poshmark. I love a good deal and like to have a good mix between used and new clothes.
I don’t need a specific outfit on my leisure days/exploring part of my day however, if I know I am going to go somewhere that has a specific tone, I want to match. Extra? Yes. Worth it? Yes.
While walking around Audubon Park and Audubon Zoo, I knew I wanted something comfortable, bright, and long sleeve to keep me warm if it was windy. This pinkish (peach) sweater is from Fashion Nova.
Going to a burlesque show was a great reason to wear something I wouldn’t normally wear. This dress is a lot more revealing than I’m used to but it’s very cute. Off shoulder dress from Fashion Nova.
I knew going on a swamp tour in New Orleans was the perfect reason to to wear “Indiana Jones” style. My brown sweater from Fashion Nova and hat from Amazon was the perfect combination.
Viewing the New Orleans parade was a great reason to get “extra” with my makeup and outfit. I got a bunch of a glitter on, my Mardi Gras tutu from Etsy, my plum colored shirt from Fashion Nova, and my purple bow from Target.
Visiting the Coven house (“Buckner Mansion”) and going on a graveyard tour brought me witchy vibes. Bring on the black dress also from Fashion Nova and my knee high boots from Tilly’s. I’m wearing the dress with tights which is why it may look like all one piece. I’m going to be honest..the second I was done taking photos in my knee high boots, I switched to sneakers so I can comfortably walk around before heading to the airport.

Please be aware the final Fashion Nova link is an affiliate link. I love these items regardless and of course, these are my own opinions 🙂
The featured image in this post are tribal pants I’ve had for years and the black “sweater” is actually the black dress I wore for the cemetery tour.
