About The Titanic
Learn all about the RMS Titanic which sank on April 15, 1912 – the “unsinkable” ship. The ship was going from Southampton, England to New York City, New York. 1,517 passengers died from the collision with the ship holding 2,223 passengers and crew. The ship could hold up to 3,500 people but only had 20 life boats on board, which was only able hold up to 1,178 people.
About The Exhibit
The exhibit is 25,000-square-feet and includes original items from the Titanic and displays a lot of the facts of what is what like to be on a passenger on the ship. They even have a original piece of the Titanic!
They do a beautiful job at creating an experience to make you feel like you are apart of the Titanic as a passenger.
You get an idea of what it is like to be a third class, second class, and third class passenger. The museum recreates what the cabins look like and the differences between the social classes.
The museum gives you a ticket at the beginning of your tour, you are assigned a name, and in the end – you get to find out if you lived or not. They have a long list of all the survivors and passengers who died on the ship. At the end of the exhibit, I found out “my” husband died on the Titanic but I survived.
