3.8 Miles  Elevation 1033.5 ft.

Wildhorse Canyon Trail is located across from Mahogany Grove Group Campground and Hilltop Campground on Deer Creek Highway on Mt. Charleston, 45 minutes from Las Vegas.

Wildhorse Canyon Trail is a loop. You can go clockwise (via the North Loop, ending via Wildhorse Canyon) or counter clockwise (via Wildhorse Canyon, ending via the North Loop)

There were far more people going COUNTER-clockwise, starting at the Wildhorse Canyon Trail.

I went clockwise starting at the North Loop. On the way up, the mountain was steep and wide. The ground is much more solid and has less gravel and rocks.

It took me 3.5 hours to complete this loop because I stopped A LOT while hiking, enjoying the nature and views. I did this trail on a Saturday and about 10 parties passed me during the entire time. The lack of crowds and not being forced to either rush or step aside to have people pass, made hiking so much more enjoyable.

I HIGHLY recommend to download the AllTrails app. This saved me because it’s so easy to make a wrong turn and not know where you are going. I was able to get reception while hiking (I have T-Mobile) but you may want to download the map for offline navigation.

You turn to left if you’re going counter-clock wise (from Whitehorse Canyon Trail) or right if you’re going clockwise (from the North Loop). This is also where the mountain is very empty and wide. It’s hard to miss!

This trail had no foot traffic, beautiful views, and you couldn’t hear anything except the birds and the wind. It was the most peaceful, easygoing hike I’ve been on.

On the way back, on the Wildhorse Canyon Trail, (going clockwise), it was much more narrow and dense with trees and vegetation. You have to be careful of the rocks and gravel.
