Port Lucaya is located in the industrial part of Freeport. Given the location of the cruise port on the island, I highly recommend to pre-book your excursion or transportation given the location of the port. The beach is not walkable from the cruise port.
Once you exit the cruise ship, there are a few shops to eat and purchase souvenirs but outside of that area, there are no surrounding landmarks or walkable locations.
Garden of the Groves is rated the number one attraction in Freeport and is about a thirty minute drive from the cruise port. If you want to see nature and wildlife, I recommend to go here.
Pirate’s Cove Zipline and Water Park is located on Taino Beach and is a very popular location if you are traveling from the cruise port. If you choose to go to this location, I recommend to book your taxi ride when you arrive in port and do not pay more than $20 per person ROUND TRIP for transportation to go to Pirate’s Cove. Visiting Taino Beach is rated the number two sight to see at Freeport. The benefit with going to Pirate’s Cove as opposed to another location is it’s close to the cruise port, popular among other cruise passengers so you feel safe, and have a common idea of when to head back to the ship without having to book a tour. Pirate’s Cove also has free wifi, a bar, and food available for purchase.
Paradise Cove is a great destination for snorkeling and is about a 25 minute drive from the cruise port. The photo taken is from Taino Beach at Pirate’s Cove.
Swim with Pigs at Crystal Beach.
No matter what you decide to do at Freeport, make sure you have your itinerary planned beforehand.
